Grayson College Culinary Arts Building on main campus in Denison Texas
The Grayson College Culinary Arts Building opened in November 2012 on the Main Campus of Grayson College. Certifications in Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management and Hospitality Management and Applied Associate of Science degrees in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management are now offered in a new state of the art facility that encompasses approximately 7,600 sq., ft. on the Grayson College Campus in Denison, Texas.
In addition to classrooms the facility contains a full-service restaurant which is open to the public one day a week for lunch with seating at 11, 11:30 and 12. Reservations are required.
The new Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs were added to the Grayson College curriculum in response to the need for about 3,500 skilled employees in these areas. The casinos in Southern Oklahoma, the explosion of restaurants in the Sherman Town Center, growth in the assisted living facilities in the area and the on-going resort and tourism trade around Lake Texoma created a need for a skilled labor force.
The department also provides “just for fun” workshops and cooking classes for the public in the spring and fall and summer camps for youth.
