Lylah Baker is 4 years old and the daughter of Denison Firefighter/Paramedic, Dustin and Josy Baker. Lylah developed a regular stomach virus in May. A MRI was performed and after multiple tests, Lylah was diagnosed with Acute Disseminated Encephalomyopathy, also known as ADEM. This is caused by a virus that triggers an autoimmune attack on the body that attacks the brain, brainstem, and spinal cord. It also causes secondary infections, such as respiratory and urinary infections. Lylah had a brain biopsy on June 14th, and they have identified the pathogen: Burkholderia pseudomallei, and developed Meliodosis which has a 40% mortality rate, but our Lylah has made it! She has a long road ahead and will require extensive rehab therapy. Dustin and Josy appreciate all the prayers and support from the community and ask that you continue to pray for Lylah.
