Run-Ride-Row Johnston County

October 17, 2021 @ 9:00 am

The Annual Alfalfa Bill Century Bicycle Ride is evolving and expanding into a 3-day event of running, riding, and rowing!

The 5K Run will be held on Friday evening, October 15th beginning at 6 p.m. from Pennington Park in Tishomingo. This will be a certified, timed race and will be on city streets with some dirt trail along Pennington Creek. Medals will be awarded for M&F Overall in the following age categories: 9 and Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. The run route will be sent to you two weeks before the event.

The Century Bike Ride will be held on Saturday, October 16th beginning at 9 a.m. beginning at the corner of Main Street and Capitol Avenue. It will be very similar to previous year’s of the Alfalfa Bill Century Bicycle Ride. There will be six route options. All the rides are on paved, rural roads and highways. We are in Southern Oklahoma – please expect rolling hills. All routes are designated on the roadways by brightly painted arrows and we are adding prominent signage at turns. Rest stops will be available every 10 miles and sag wagons will be available on all routes. Our SAG drivers will be with you all along the way – with water, drink supplements, fruit, pickles, Alfalfa Bill Power Cookies, repair support, and encouragement, until every rider gets back. All riders must return to the Chickasaw Nation Information Center by dark. Please plan accordingly depending on your riding speed. We will also have RidewithGPS routes available soon. Email updates will be sent as we get closer to the event, including ride links, lodging info, other things to do, etc.

The Sunday morning Row will take place at Pennington Creek Park in Tishomingo on Sunday, October 17th at 9 a.m. You are encouraged to bring your own watercraft; we will have a few on hand if you don’t own your own. There will be a mandatory safety training, free paddle, and races. Please comply with Oklahoma State boating regulations. “Everyone on board a moving vessel must have an appropriately sized US Coast Guard approved PFD (Personal Flotation Device) with them. Adults are not required to wear a PFD while on the water but it must be quickly accessible in an emergency. All children 12 years old and younger must wear a US Coast Guard approved PFD while on board any vessel that is less than 26 feet in length.” (Link to Info)
