Heard Spring Break Mini-Camps

$20 – $24Spring Break Mini-Camps at Heard Wildlife Sanctuary
Each mini-camp explores a different topic, a hike on the sanctuary, a live animal visitor (no contact), and a take-home project. Preregistration required. Participants should dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven gravel. Participants may wish to bring water in a carrier. Pre-registration is required. Members only registration through January 17th. Registration open to the public January 18th. Members $20; Non-Members $24
Age: Kindegarten – 6th Grade (Minimum age 5 years on September 1, 2021)
Tuesday, March 8 | Totally Turtles – Did you know that Texas is home to a variety of aquatic and land turtles? Come and find out more about thee favorite reptiles as we explore topics like where they live, how fast the move, and if they can take off their shells. Wednesday, March 9 | Signs of Spring – As the coldest time of the year comes to an ende, new life sprouts up all over. Come join us as we look for some of the signs of spring: new leaves and budding flowers, migrating birds, baby animals and more! |
Thursday, March 10 | Nature CSI – Hone your detective skills as we sleuth around for nature clues from tracks and scat to chewed leaves and h oles in bark. Then we’ll piece together what we’ve found to find out more about “who done it?” |
Friday, March 11 | Wetland Feast – Where do birds like ducks and cranes stop when they are migrating? Where do fish and frogs hatch and grow up? Where do deer and raccoons get a drink? Join us as we take a hike through our wetlands and find out just how important wetlands are not only to the plants and animals that live there, but to all living things as well. |
