Farming Heritage Day 2022
September 24, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
FreeFarming Heritage Day 2022 at Sam Rayburn State Historic Site
We are offering self-guided first floor tours of the Rayburn home, and several craft activities andgames. You can walk around our site to see antique tractors from the Wylie Antique Machinery Society and the Bryan County Antique Tractor Club, but don’t be surprised if you discover a new hobby along the way after speaking with local hobby groups at their information stations such as the Fannin County Master Naturalists and the Grayson County Amateur Radio Club. Bonham State Park can tell you about its vast recreational opportunities as well as nature and animals in the area. If you’ve always been curious about how goats are milked, or how large a Polled Hereford cow is, then you’ll find out at Farming Heritage Day with local farmers and ranchers like Maeder Agricultural & Livestock Services, and Doyle Hereford Ranch. Thanks to a generous sponsorship from the Fannin County Farm Bureau, we will have plenty of water for everyone who attends, and you can thank the Bureau by stopping by the Texas farm Bureau Insurance booth. The Creative Arts Center will be with us this year to inform you about how they serve our community, and they will have a craft activity as well.
The Sam Rayburn House is located at 890 W. State Hwy. 56 in Bonham, Texas, and this is where Farming Heritage Day will be held. You can call us with any questions you have about Farming Heritage Day, or to schedule a tour of our site, at 903.583.5558. You may also visit our website at www.visitsamrayburnhouse.com, or e-mail us at sam-rayburn-house@thc.texas.gov.
The Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site tells the real story of Sam Rayburn, one of the most powerful and influential politicians of the 20th century, in his authentic 1916 home. Preserved as a period time capsule, the two-story home contains all original Rayburn furnishings and housewares. The Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site is one of 34 historic attractions operated by the Texas Historical Commission.
