Juniper Point West is a US Corps of Engineers managed recreation area on the Texas shore of Lake Texoma. Juniper Point Campgrounds are located on the Texas side of Lake Texoma off Hwy 377, close to Gordonville. The campground is on both sides of the highway as the highway enters the Willis Bridge crossing into Oklahoma. Juniper Point east side access is a controlled entrance park. The Juniper Point west side access is where the trailhead for the Cross Timbers hiking trail is located. General stores and a marina are within one mile.
Cross Timber Trail has mostly narrow, hilly trails with some rocky and hazardous areas. Out and back along the shores of scenic Lake Texoma. Between Juniper Point and Cedar Bayou Marina Resort the hiker travels high above the lake on the rocky ledges that make up the shoreline. From these high vantage points one is refreshed by beautiful views of the lake and its shores. From Cedar Bayou to Paw Paw Creek resort the trail meanders through a blackjack oak woodland which typifies the Cross Timbers environment. This segment of the trail takes the hiker through many changes of elevation. Between Paw Paw Creek resort and Rock Creek Camp the trail is much flatter and the tree cover sparse.
